Bike Fitting and Cycle Specific Biomechanical Evaluations
Pedal Fit is about you. Built on the foundation of performance and refined by the experience of a physical therapist. Every Pedal Fit experience is unique because you are not numbers on a screen.
STEP 1: Subjective
This is not your average “check box” interview. There are no prefabricated questions or answers because you know more about yourself than anyone else. Your answers guide our questions to determine performance and injury related issues.
Step 2: Physical Therapy Examination
There is much more to your body than size and stretch. With a Doctorate of Physical Therapy we know how to find and understand the details that make you unique. This involves head to toe skilled evaluation of your musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems.
- Manual Muscle Testing
- Soft Tissue Palpation
- Manual (Hands On) Assessment
- Nerve Mobility
- Peripheral Joint Mobility
- Spinal Mobility
- Function Specific Special Testing
- Movement Screening
- Gross Postural & Limb Symmetry
Step 3: Static and Dynamic Assessment
This is what you have been waiting for, starting with an on bike static evaluation of joint angles, body positioning, and posture. We then combine the dynamic evaluation (riding and pedaling) of your body’s motion control and biomechanics using slow motion analysis and comprehensive movement assessment to determine compensation strategies, pedaling skills and more.
Step 4: Bike Modifications and MORE
This is where we put it all together. First, you will have a comprehensive discussion with your Pedal Fit PT. This is important because bike fit can vary depending on your ability and desire to make investments of time, money, and/or effort. Once your desires are established, bike modifications, cycling shoe/cleat alignment, treatment techniques, exercise prescription, or education are provided accordingly.
Step 5: Communication
After your fit we expect to hear from you! We will provide you with the written details from step 1-4. You provide us with your questions.
